The Vision of Future ID-based Communication
One of the key requirements on which all secure communication must be based is the absolutely unambiguous verification of the identity of senders and receivers of messages. Systems must be capable of filtering out unwanted or anonymous senders. Such identification processes don’t only play a major role in the internet but in wireless communication networks as well where they will be even more heavily used in future. For instance, future fully wireless automotive communication will be able to identify the owner’s car registration papers, use ID cards instead of car keys and verify that automotive components really are genuine.
To bring these ideas to real life, the partners of the Secure Identity Innovation Cluster are working in the automotive field to develop processes, procedures and technologies that can recognize and use electronic identities – for instance, in identity management, communication in traffic networks and product security.
